Commerce and product discovery
Documentation scope: Guild 0.1.x pre-release builds. The exact public release version will be confirmed in the changelog before Theme Store publication.
Use this guide for product merchandising, collection routes, recommendation content, and editorial discovery.
Curated product and collection routes
Use Featured collection when the merchant wants a controlled product selection from one Shopify collection.
Use Featured catalog to promote collections or create a curated catalog route. Collection images and concise labels make this section easier to scan.
Use Shop the look when a lifestyle image should lead into a focused set of products. This works well for room scenes, styled shelves, coordinated product groups, or campaign imagery.
Recommendation sections
Use Related products and Complementary products only after the store's product and recommendation data is ready. Shopify Search & Discovery can influence the available recommendation output.
Use Recently viewed when browsing history on the current browser is appropriate for the store. Review the store privacy policy and consent setup before relying on recently viewed content for sensitive product categories.
Product and article lists
Product lists can use the built-in product card composition or a local Custom blocks composition. Keep product data complete before changing card layout: title, media, price, availability, variants, and product URLs should be correct in Shopify first.
Quick view is controlled by the global Quick view section in the popup group. Keep that section shown when eligible View options actions should open the product dialog; hide it when those actions should go directly to the product page. The link itself remains a product-page fallback, and products that need a full-page-only transition continue to use the product page. Quick view reuses Product gallery presentation but intentionally does not open the full-screen gallery/PhotoSwipe layer inside the dialog.
Use Blog posts for editorial discovery. Confirm the selected Shopify blog has published articles and review repeated article lists when several sections use the same source.
Article pages
Use the Article section for each individual blog post. The Blog template remains the article-list page; the Article template is the single post page.
Use the shared Article heading, excerpt, details, tags, media, and action blocks to keep Article pages consistent with Blog cards. Date can show Published or Updated output, Author can use the Shopify author account image and optional title, and Summary can generate linked navigation from Article content headings. Article buttons can link to the previous article, current blog, next article, Article details, or Author homepage.
Use Row - article, Column - article, and Box - article when an Article page needs a sidebar or nested editorial layout. For native device sharing with Copy link fallback, add a generic Buttons > Button and set Action behavior to Share current page. Use app blocks only when provider-maintained sharing destinations or analytics are required.
Review checklist
- Test at least one product with variants and one unavailable product.
- Check a collection with mixed image ratios and long product titles.
- Confirm recommendation sections have real Shopify data instead of relying on editor placeholders.
- Review Quick view and Add to cart with representative products for the features the store actually uses. Confirm that eligible View options opens Quick view while the global Quick view section is shown and returns to the product-page route when Quick view is hidden.
- Test an Article with realistic content and any optional author, date, comment, or previous/next navigation states the store intends to use.
- Check empty and no-results states before publishing.
